Tara Lee

Tara Lee, born in bred in Vancouver, BC, can be invariably found at local arts and culture festivals, street food in hand while browsing for artisan goods. She also adores musical theatre and concerts, and is guilty of singing along loudly to her favourite songs. Her insatiable passion for Vancouver restaurants and all things food-related translates into amazing meals with family and friends and pasta-making at home on a hand crank machine. She enjoys recommending to people the most delicious spots in town, both the ones with buzz and those not receiving a lot of social media love.

When not searching for inventive dishes, she teaches as a lecturer at UBC’s School of Journalism, Writing, and Media, leading classes on academic writing and occasionally, literature, like Canadian, dystopian, children’s, and young adult. Longing to write with adjectives again, she branched into work as a Vancouver-based journalist for a variety of publications, focusing primarily on Vancouver dining, and things to do in Vancouver. She has also worked as a broadcaster, appearing on CBC Radio and Global BC. In her writing as a contributor for Destination Vancouver, she aims to share her knowledge of and enthusiasm for the city, spotlight the rich diversity of Vancouver events and attractions, and above all, inspire people to take themselves on adventures, whatever that looks like for them.
