Taryn Eyton

Taryn Eyton is a Squamish-based hiking and adventure travel writer who has made a career out of chasing mountain views and sharing them with the world. Through her website, HappiestOutdoors.ca, she inspires people to feel confident and comfortable exploring the outdoors, both at home in BC and around the world.

Taryn is the author of two hiking guidebooks: Backpacking in Southwestern British Columbia (2021) and Backpacking on Vancouver Island (2024). Both books spent weeks on the BC Bestseller List, making her the go-to voice for overnight and multi-day hiking and multi-day adventures near Vancouver, BC. Beyond the books, she’s also a Leave No Trace Level 2 Instructor and President of the Friends of Garibaldi Park Society. Basically, if it involves mountains, maps, or meadows, Taryn is in the thick of it.

As a lifelong Vancouverite turned Squamish local, she thrives in places where the ocean meets the peaks and considers herself a connoisseur of alpine meadows. When she isn’t hiking or writing, you’ll find her eating Asian food, watching women’s sports, or with her nose in a novel.
