Vancouver International Mountain Film Festival’s 2022 Fall Series Starts November 14

Get inspired at the Vancouver International Mountain Film Festival (VIMFF). Their 2022 fall program launches in-person and online on November 14 with over 25 films and events.

The Fall Series includes both in-person and online streaming events. Tickets for in-person events are $25 ($23 for early bird tickets). Online events are $18 ($15 early bird). You can also buy an Online Fall Series Pass for $65 ($55 early bird), which gives you access to all online events. Tickets and more info at vimff.org.

BC Bike Show

In Person: November 14 at 7:30 p.m. at Brewhall, 97 E 2nd Ave., Vancouver

Online: November 14 to December 12

Enjoy eight short films that showcase biking in British Columbia. The show includes the world premieres of Airplane Mode, a film about building a new trail in Squamish, and Benched, which follows Sonya Looney, a pro athlete and new mother.

Snowsports Show 1

In Person: November 15 at 7:30 p.m. at the Rio Theatre, 1660 E. Broadway, Vancouver

Online: November 14 to December 12 (Films only. In combination with Snowsports Show 2.)

This show includes four films about skiing that explore the human connection to the mountains. Athlete Greg Hill will also speak about his early ski days at Whistler and how they influenced his latest film, Unfinished Business.

Climbing Show

In Person: November 16 at 7:30 p.m. at the Rio Theatre, 1660 E. Broadway, Vancouver

Online: November 14 to December 12 (Films only.)

Watch five films that provide a more intimate look at what it means to be a rock climber. Vancouver Island-based climber Quentin Roberts will also give a presentation on alpine climbing in some of the wildest mountain ranges on Earth.

The Klabona Keepers

In Person: November 17 at 7:30 p.m. at the Kay Meek Arts Centre, 1700 Mathers Ave., West Vancouver

Online: November 14 to December 12. (A recording of the panel discussion will be available online starting November 19.)

This feature-length film tells the story of 15 years of matriarch-led Indigenous activism to protect the remote Sacred Headwaters known as the Klabona. A panel discussion after the film will feature the film’s director, Jasper Snow Rosen, as well as Tahtlan elders John Nole and Rhoda Quock.

Snowsports Show 2

In Person: November 18 at 7:30 p.m. at the Kay Meek Arts Centre, 1700 Mathers Ave., West Vancouver

Online: November 14 to December 12 (Films only. In combination with Snowsports Show 1.)

The three films at the second Snowsports Snow showcase everyday people, incredible locations, and professional athletes. Sandy Ward, a competitive halfpipe rider and member of the Lil’wat Nation, will also give a presentation about being Indigenous in the snowsports industry.

Fall Series Finale

In Person: November 19 at 7:30 p.m. at the Centennial Theatre, 2300 Lonsdale Ave., North Vancouver

Online: November 14 to December 12 (Films only.)

The five films at the Fall Series Finale celebrate diversity in the outdoors including Black and Indigenous perspectives. The in-person event also includes a presentation by award-winning outdoor photographer Pete McBride.
