12 Outdoor Things to Do Around Vancouver on Easter Weekend 2023

Spend some time outdoors this Easter weekend. Visit a farm, admire the cherry blossoms, head into nature on a hike, or choose from even more activities on our list.

Visit a Farm

Many local farms have special Easter events with egg hunts, baby animals, and Easter Bunny photo ops. Some events require advance booking. See farm websites for details. In North Vancouver, visit Maplewood Farm. In Abbotsford, check out Maan Farms and Taves Family Farms. In Maple Ridge, visit Meadows Family Farm. In Langley, head to Loft Country Farm. And in Chilliwack, check out Petey’s Easter Eggstravangza at Fantasy Farms and Greendale Acres.

Admire the Cherry Blossoms

Vancouver is home to thousands of cherry blossom trees that explode in pink and white blooms each spring. The Vancouver Cherry Blossom Festival runs from April 1 to 23. There are several guided tree walks on Easter Weekend. Or plan a picnic under the flowers. Use the VCBF Blossom Map to find a location. Pro tip: Sort by date to find trees in bloom.

Ride the Easter Train

The Bear Creek Park Train will be all decked out for Easter and this year they’ve added a petting zoo. You can meet the Easter Bunny, hunt for Easter eggs, and do crafts too.

Visit a Farmers’ Market

Warmer weather signals the return of Vancouver’s farmers’ markets. Browse through the stalls to find locally grown produce, baked goods, and prepared foods like jams and beverages. On Saturday, April 8 you can shop at the Trout Lake and Riley Park Farmer’s Markets.

Visit a Garden

Vancouver is home to over twenty gorgeous gardens that are spectacular in spring. From sprawling show gardens to community-oriented rose gardens, there’s something for everyone. Use our guide to Vancouver’s gardens to find one near you.

Take a Hike

There may be snow in the mountains, but down near sea level, it’s still hiking season. Choose a trail from our lists of recommended snow-free hikes. Or dig into our hike of the month archives. Get Out on the Water

On a sunny day, the best views in Vancouver are from the water. Rent a kayak or paddleboard and explore the shoreline. Or head farther afield with a boat rental or tour. If you want a low-effort adventure, a ride on the Aquabus or False Creek Ferry is a fun way to experience the waters of False Creek.

Go for a Bike Ride

As the weather warms up, it’s a great time to take the bikes out of the garage and head out on a ride. Our list of easy bike rides around Vancouver has lots of options. Go Skiing One Last Time

As the weather warms up, the local ski hills start to wrap up the ski season. But you can still ski one last time on Easter Weekend. Mount Seymour, Cypress Mountain, and Grouse Mountain all plan to stay open at least until Sunday, April 9. Whistler Blackcomb is open on Easter weekend as well, since their season extends into May with skiing on the Blackcomb Glacier. If you want to end the season with a splash, head to Mount Seymour’s Puddle Party on Saturday, April 8.

Sign-up For the Big Easter Run

The bunny-themed Big Easter Run takes place on April 8th at Jericho Beach Park, home of some of Vancouver’s cutest wild rabbits. Choose from 5 km or 10 km courses. Or sign-up for the kid-friendly 1-3 km option. Your entry includes bunny ears, a chocolate finishers medal, and an Easter egg hunt for kids registered in the 1-3 km race. The event is a fundraiser for KidSport BC. Register online.

Hunt for Easter Eggs at the Sea to Sky Gondola

Ride the Sea to Sky Gondola for incredible views of Howe Sound and the surrounding mountains. At the top, wander down the Spirit Trail to collect chocolate eggs. The Easter egg hunt takes place Sunday, April 9th from 10 am to noon.
