Stanley Park, Vancouver
Stanley Park has several gorgeous spring photo locations. Check out the Rose Garden for lots of vivid blooms. The tulip beds at the Stanley Park Pavillion are also beautiful in early spring. Be sure to visit the Ted and Mary Greig Rhododendron Garden in the first two weeks of May. Located in between the Pitch & Putt and Lost Lagoon, these colourful bushes bloom in shades of white, pink, and purple.

Queen Elizabeth Park, Vancouver
The Quarry Gardens at Queen Elizabeth Park are a must-visit spring Instagram location. The manicured paths meander past many varieties of annuals and perennials. If you’re after some more exotic flowers, book tickets to the Bloedel Conservatory. You’ll find a tropical paradise inside the dome. The park also has a gorgeous rose garden and lots of cherry blossoms.

VanDusen Botanical Garden, Vancouver
Spring is the most colourful time of the year at the VanDusen Botanical Garden. Look for pink and white cherry and magnolia blossoms overhead, red rhododendron flowers on bushes, and manicured beds of tulips and daffodils. For dreamy pics, head to the Laburnum Walk where cascades of yellow blossoms form an arch overhead. To visit the garden, book tickets online.

University of British Columbia, Vancouver
UBC’s Point Grey campus has enough spring photo opportunities to fill a whole day. Divided into several themed sections, the UBC Botanical Garden has lots of beautiful blooms. Head to the arbour to take photos with the climbing clematis and wisteria. The classically Japanese Nitobe Memorial Garden showcases the bright blooms of cherry blossoms and rhododendrons against the green moss and lawn. The picturesque bridges make great ‘grams. Don’t miss the Rose Garden at the north end of campus. The flowers are beautiful, and so is the view of the ocean. Book tickets for the Botanical Garden and Nitobe Garden online.

Dr. Sun Yat-Sen Classical Chinese Garden, Vancouver
The Ming Dynasty-style Dr. Sun Yat-Sen Classical Chinese Garden is beautiful year-round, but it really shines in spring. Look for blooms on the cherry and magnolia trees, and flowers sprouting in rockeries and on bushes. It’s a peaceful escape set in the heart of Vancouver’s bustling Chinatown. Book tickets online.

Art Phillips Park (Burrard Skytrain Station), Vancouver
Art Phillips Park is a tiny oasis tucked in behind Burrard Skytrain Station. Most of the year’s it is a leafy green space to sit on a bench and take a break. But in the spring it transforms into a dreamland as the trees explode in pink cherry blossoms. The flower tunnels and “pink snow” underfoot make for spectacular photos.

Hastings Park, Vancouver
Most Vancouverites know Hastings Park as the home of the PNE. But it also contains several gorgeous gardens. Il Giardino Italiano on the west side features burbling fountains, statues, a grape arbor, and lots of Mediterranean plants. The Japanese-style Momiji Garden near the southwest corner was built as a reminder of the internment of Japanese-Canadians during WWII. In the spring the pink cherry blossoms and indigo irises make it a colourful place to visit.

Park and Tilford Gardens, North Vancouver
Known as the Jewel of the North Shore, this beautiful walled garden is hidden away in the corner of the Park and Tilford shopping centre. It has eight interconnected gardens, each with its own theme. The magnolia garden is breathtaking in the spring as the flowers bloom overhead.

Minoru Park, Richmond
Richmond’s Minoru Park provides lots of fun photo ops in spring. Head to the chapel in the centre of the park (behind the Gateway Theatre) to enjoy the manicured gardens, decked out for spring. Wander the nearby paths to enjoy roses, pink cherry blossoms, flower beds, and two tranquil ponds.

Century Gardens, Deer Lake Park, Burnaby
The beautiful Century Gardens behind the Burnaby Art Gallery at Deer Lake Park are worth a visit in spring. There are flower beds with blooms of every imaginable colour. But the real stars are the rhododendron bushes, celebrated as Burnaby’s official flower.
