Vancouver TheatreSports Celebrates its Maiden Improv Voyage
If you love cruise ship vacations or are just dying to go on your first sea voyage, you’ll want to test your sea legs on Vancouver TheatreSports’ inaugural “comedy cruise ship.”
For one night only, the hilarious crew at VTS will berecreating the antics, rituals, and fun of a cruise ship environment in animmersive and interactive comedy night.
On February 21, 2019, Vancouver TheatreSports (VTS), a registered, non-profit charity, is holding a sea-themed fundraiser. The maiden voyage of their “comedy cruise ship” sets sail at 7pm and “returns to harbor” at 10pm. For those prone to seasickness, don’t worry. This “ship” never actually encounters the choppiness of the sea; instead, the land-based Improv Centre (1502 Duranleau Street) on Granville Island will, for an evening, metamorphose into a cruise ship with all the characters and locations that you would expect on a luxury liner.

Once on the ship, you will encounter the Cruise Director,Captain, and other staff who will do their utmost to amuse and entertain you. Likeany cruise, they’ll be a variety of activities that you can partake in androoms that you can visit, such as the Starlight Theatre that will feature improvcomedy and musical entertainment.
You can take a stroll on the Promenade Deck and watch the “Mustard Drill,” or you can visit the Captain’s Table in the Lounge where insults from the maître d’ abound. Other activities include bidding on silent auction prizes at the Excursion Desk in the Atrium, or visiting the ship’s bow and partaking in a cocktail there.
You can get pics of your night at sea by visiting the pop-up photo station, or taking advantage of the roaming photographer. A sundae bar, hors d’oeuvres, and a free beverage are also all included in your ticket price. This improv voyage promises to be a rollicking good time at “sea.”
Early bird tickets are an affordable $45.99 (ends January 31, 2019), so don’t wait to book. Tickets will increase to $59.99 in February.
