In a city surrounded by nature, it's no surprise that many Vancouverites have a wellness-focused lifestyle. One way that locals love to rejuvenate and refresh is with an outdoor yoga session.

Outdoor Classes With Mat Collective

Each summer, Mat Collective organizes inclusive outdoor yoga classes at parks and beaches across Vancouver. Past locations have included Kits Beach, Stanley Park, and English Bay. Most classes are free or low-cost to make classes financially accessible to everyone. The large classes are a great way to experience the power of the yoga community in Vancouver.

Yoga on the Water

Challenge yourself by doing yoga on the water - literally. Just Add Water Yoga offers innovative on-water yoga classes at several stunning locations. Sign up for a Liquid Yoga session on floating mats in the heated outdoor pool at the Westin Bayshore Hotel. Or book a SUP yoga class on the ocean at Kitsilano Beach, Locarno Beach, or White Rock Beach.

Get grounded with a yoga class held high in the mountains. The Sea to Sky Gondola in Squamish offers yoga classes on their stunning summit deck on Mondays, Thursdays, and Fridays between May 19 and October 9. With panoramic views of Howe Sound and the Coast Mountains and fresh alpine air, you won't find a more stunning location to practice yoga.

Yoga on a Farm

Relax and rejuvenate with a yoga class in a serene farm setting in the Fraser Valley.

Kensington Prairie Farm in Langley offers Alpaca Yoga sessions on select dates in the spring and summer. Stretch out into downward-facing dog while adorably fluffy alpacas graze next to your mat. Sessions includes a 45-minute yoga class suitable for yogis of all experience levels along with a 15-minute alpaca meet and greet.

Or take a Goat Yoga class at Maan Farms in Abbotsford on select dates. Try to hold your poses while the cutest baby goats frolic between the mats or jump from back to back. After the 1-hour class, you can socialize with the goats.

More Scenic Spots To Roll Out Your Mat

You don't have to sign up for a class to practice yoga outdoors in Vancouver. There are beautiful spots all around the city where you can roll out your mat and enjoy gorgeous scenery during your yoga session.

David Lam Park: This Yaletown Park has lots of grassy space to practice yoga. The views of False Creek and Yaletown are great too.

Kitsilano Beach: With both sandy and grassy areas, Kits Beach has lots of options for yoga. Gaze out across Burrard Inlet to the North Shore Mountains while you flow through your postures.

Sunset Beach: Close your day with a yoga session on Sunset Beach in the West End. The beach faces west into the setting sun.

Dude Chilling Park: While this park in Mount Pleasant is formally called Guelph Park, locals call it Dude Chilling Park after the large sculpture of a relaxing man. The grassy expanse of the park is an ideal place to chill out by practicing restorative yoga.
