Keep your New Year's resolutions with a healthy visit to Vancouver. With easy access to nature, nutritious dining options, and a mindful health culture, you can explore the city while meeting your wellness goals.

Start Your Day with Juice

Stop by Glory Juice or the Juice Truck to pick up a refreshing juice in the morning. They both offer cold-pressed juice that retains vitamins, minerals, and enzymes that can be lost in other juice-making processes.

If you're looking for something more substantial order a plant-based smoothie. Both spots have options packed with healthy ingredients like kale, matcha, dates, acai berries, and lots more.

Workout with a View

In Vancouver, it's easy to get a workout while enjoying our city's spectacular scenery.

A classic option is a lap of the 10-kilometre-long Stanley Park Seawall. The paved path has incredible views of the harbour, city skyline and North Shore Mountains. It's a great place for a run or a walk, but you can also rent a bike from Spokes, Yes Cycle, Bikes and Blades, or Jo-E Bike Rentals, all located on Denman Street just outside the park.

If you'd rather go for a hike, you don't have to leave the city. Head to Pacific Spirit Regional Park on the west side of Vancouver to explore 55 kilometres of trails. Enjoy towering old-growth trees, mossy groves, and ocean views.

Or opt for a snowy session at Grouse Mountain. Ride the gondola to the top, then hit the slopes on skis or a snowboard. Non-skiers can rent snowshoes and wander the easy trail around Blue Grouse Lake or challenge themselves with the steep climb to the top of the Snowshoe Grind on Dam Mountain.

Refuel With a Healthy Lunch

After your workout, drop in to one of Vancouver's plant-based cafes for a healthy lunch.

Kokomo has four locations around the city and specializes in yummy vegan bowls and salads. The Korean-inspired Banchan Macro bowl with gochujang tofu, cucumber, kimchi, veggies, and brown rice is a local favourite.

Tractor features local and organic ingredients in their salads, stews, soups, and rice bowls. Most items are vegan or vegetarian, but they are customizable so you can add on proteins like chili lime tofu, sesame avocado, grilled chicken, or smoked salmon. They have seven Vancouver locations.

Unwind in the Afternoon

To really unwind, book a treatment at one of Vancouver's spas. The spa at the Fairmont Pacific Rim offers massages, skin treatments, and facials. Guests at the spa can enjoy their Jacuzzi, steam room, mineral bath, cedar sauna, or lounge before or after their treatment. Don't miss the incredible city and harbour views from their terrace.

You can also stretch out sore muscles with an afternoon yoga session. BYO-yoga mat to the sand at Kitsilano Beach to do some solo sun salutations while you gaze across at the North Shore Mountains.

Or head to one of Vancouver's many yoga studios for a class. YYoga has four studios around the city and offers 10 styles of classes from challenging power yoga to gentle yin yoga. If you're looking for a hot yoga experience, head to Modo Yoga in East Vancouver. All of their classes are held in a room heated to 36 degrees Celsius through infrared heating panels.

Pre-Dinner Mocktails

Start your evening with pre-dinner cocktails of the zero-proof variety. Many of Vancouver's bars have an extensive mocktail menu if you're doing Dry January.

Prophecy Bar on the lower level of the Rosewood Hotel Georgia has an innovative cocktail menu inspired by storytelling and organized by four flavour profiles: spiritous, refreshing, herbaceous, and lush. All of the cocktails in their "Free Spirits" section are zero-proof.

For retro vibes, head to Meo in Chinatown. The 1970s-inspired space has an extensive cocktail menu and non-alcoholic options including mocktails, non-alcoholic beer, non-alcoholic bubbles, and house-made sodas.

DIY mixologists can't miss Mocktails on Commercial Drive, Vancouver's first alcohol-free liquor store. Their selection runs the gamut from non-alcoholic beers and wines to zero-proof spirits and functional beverages. They also have vintage glassware and lots of mixers.

Indulge in a Luxe Plant-Based Dinner

Vancouver's vegetarian and vegan food scene is wide-ranging, with plant-based options for seemingly every cuisine and price point. But if you want to treat yourself to the best of the best, make a reservation at one of Vancouver's Michelin Guide-rated plant-based restaurants.

The Acorn describes themselves as a vegetable-forward locavore fine dining restaurant. Most of the menu is vegan and gluten-free and their kitchen operates on a zero-waste philosophy. To experience the best of the season, book the chef's menu experience to enjoy four courses that showcase hyper-local, in-season ingredients.

Kitsilano's Folke highlights local farms in their menu of plant-based small plates designed for sharing. Ask to sit at the bar facing the open kitchen to watch the chefs work their magic.
