Thanks to Vancouver’s mild climate, you can golf here year-round. In the fall and winter, the courses stay lush and green thanks to plentiful rain and above-freezing temperatures.

Winter Golf Tips:

  • Layer up. Even though the temperatures are usually above freezing, it can still be chilly. Be sure to pack an umbrella and rain gear.
  • Your ball won’t fly as far in cold weather so you might want to club up to ensure you maintain distance in your drives. Keeping your golf balls warm in your pocket can also help.
  • Book an afternoon tee time for warmer weather and to avoid possible frost delays first thing in the morning.

Langara Golf Course

Langara Golf Course

Built in 1926, the city-owned Langara Golf Course sits in the heart of Vancouver, making it easy to get in a round without going far. It’s considered one of the best municipal golf courses in Canada. While the course may be nearly 100 years old, it was redesigned by Thomas McBroom. The par 71 course has a length of 6,261 yards.

Located in Pacific Spirit Regional Park near the entrance to the University of British Columbia, the University Golf Club is a local favourite. The par 72 course dates back to 1929 (when it was called “Westward Ho!”), but these days it is owned and operated by the Musqueam Indian Band, on whose traditional territory it sits. The towering old-growth trees along the fairways create a gorgeous rainforest setting.

The championship-length Morgan Creek Golf Course in Surrey has hosted PGA Tour and Golf Canada events. Designed by Thomas McBroom, it features a unique design that allows for a dry, playable course in all seasons. You can also enjoy great mountain views - Mount Baker looms on the horizon to the south and the Golden Ears Peaks crown the mountains to the north.

Play not one, but two Arnold Palmer-designed courses at Northview Golf and Country Club in Surrey. Both are rated par 72. The Ridge Course has a championship course-style layout while the Canal Course has links styling and a West Coast feel. Each hole on both courses has five sets of tees so you can challenge yourself or play a more relaxed round.
