One of Vancouver’s best qualities is how quickly the city gives way to farmland with mountain views. Take an easy day trip from Vancouver with the kids or with friends to celebrate the seasons as you wander through colourful flower fields or fill baskets with berries straight from the farm.

Tulip Festivals Near Vancouver

Each year, tulip season usually runs from early April to mid-May, depending on bloom conditions. With vibrant rows of flowers set against stunning mountain backdrops, tulip festivals are one of the best ways to welcome spring.

Harrison Tulip Festival

Set against the snow-capped mountains of the Fraser Valley, the Harrison Tulip Festival features 14 million blooms across 45 acres with more than 150 tulip varieties. Special events include sunrise openings, illuminated evening displays and a Bloom Bar where you can create your own bouquet.

Abbotsford Tulip Festival

The 35-acre Abbotsford Tulip Festival at Lakeland Flowers is known for its playful photo ops, including oversized Dutch wooden shoes, swings, canoes, and bicycles. Visitors can also enjoy live music, food trucks, and a U-pick area.

Botanica Flower Festival

If you want to see the tulip fields from above, visit Botanica Flower Festival in Chilliwack to soar into the air on their Ferris wheel. They also have a farm shop featuring local vendors and a kids play area.

Lavender Farms near Vancouver

Lavenderland in Richmond is a peaceful farm just 30 minutes from Vancouver. The seven-acre farm showcases four varieties of lavender and lots of spots for whimsical photo ops.

Richmond Sunflower Festival

The Richmond Sunflowers Festival is the closest festival to Vancouver. In addition to sunflowers, they also have dozens of varieties of dahlias and gladiolas. Wander through the blooms to find dedicated photo spots, take a tractor ride, or grab a snack from the food trucks.

Taves Family Farm

Taves Family Farm in Abbotsford is one of the best things to do with family in Vancouver since it has a petting barn and jumping pillow. Their Magical Sunflower Garden will also delight kids with whimsical gnome displays tucked amongst the towering sunflowers.

Berry Picking Near Vancouver

Berry picking is a fun way to enjoy fresh local fruit while spending time outdoors. Strawberries are usually available in June and early July. Raspberries are ripe in late June and early July.
