Ski all day, then relax with great food and drinks - that's apres-ski culture. In Vancouver, you can apres-ski on the mountains or at restaurants on your way back to the city.

On-Mountain Apres-Ski

Vancouver has three local ski resorts in the nearby North Shore Mountains: Grouse Mountain, Mount Seymour, and Cypress Mountain. All three have on-mountain apres-ski options.

Step off the slopes and into Altitudes Bistro at Grouse Mountain. It has incredible city views and a hearty menu including the famous (and enormous) Grouse Mountain Nachos. Order a pint of the Grizzly Amber Ale, brewed exclusively for Grouse Mountain by Granville Island Brewing, or take advantage of daily drink specials.

If you want to make your apres-ski special, book the winter fondue. This European-style dining experience includes both savoury and sweet fondue courses as well as wine pairings.

The Observatory, Grouse Mountain

If you're looking for an elevated dining experience, book a table at The Observatory at Grouse Mountain. Choose from a two-course or three-course menu (offered daily) or their vegan tasting menu (offered on Thursdays). They also have lots of local craft beer and an extensive cocktail menu including zero-proof options.

Rock Chute Kitchen & Bar, Mount Seymour

If you're skiing at Mount Seymour, finish the day at Rock Chute Kitchen & Bar. The laidback restaurant has a menu full of Canadian comfort food including poutine and a vodka caesar that comes with a mini grilled cheese and chicken wings. If you need to warm up, try one of their six hot chocolate creations.

Crazy Raven Bar & Grill, Cypress Mountain

After skiing at Cypress Mountain, head to the Crazy Raven Bar & Grill inside the Cypress Creek Lodge for apres. They have a classic pub-style menu with wings, poutine, and lots of burgers. The big windows give you a great view of the slopes.

On Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, the huge, four-level outdoor patio becomes the Aguila Cantina, serving up Mexican food like tacos, burritos, and quesadillas. Their drink menu includes Sol beer and margaritas.

Hollyburn Lodge, Cypress Mountain

If you're cross-country skiing at the Cypress Mountain Nordic Area, stop in at the Hollyburn Lodge for apres-ski. There has been a cross-country ski lodge on this site for nearly 100 years. Today's modern yet still rustic lodge serves up burgers, hot soup, and more, along with beer, wine, and hot drinks. On Saturday nights they also have live music.

Off-Mountain Apres-Ski

With a busy food scene, there are lots of restaurants in North Vancouver and West Vancouver that make great apres-ski pit stops on your drive back into the city.

Tap & Barrel Shipyards

Soak up the gorgeous view of downtown Vancouver from Tap & Barrel Shipyards. It's located right on the water near Lonsdale Quay Market and the SeaBus terminal, making it an easy stop if you skied at Grouse Mountain or if you're taking transit back from any of the three North Shore ski resorts. Tap & Barrel is a locavore's paradise with 36 BC craft beers and 16 BC wines on tap. Their menu includes pub standards like burgers alongside less conventional options like ahi tuna poke bowls and hand-stretched pizzas.

Red Lion Bar and Grill

For cozy British pub vibes, make your way to Red Lion Bar and Grill in West Vancouver's Dundarave neighbourhood. It's on the way back to Vancouver from Cypress Mountain. Pull up a chair near the stone fireplace, then dig in to English favourites like fish and chips, bangers and mash, or steak and kidney pie. On Sunday nights, they offer a traditional roast beef dinner.

Buffala

If you're craving Italian, visit Bufala in Edgemont village near Grouse Mountain. Their specialty is their Napolitana-style pizzas, but they also have shareable small plates like meatballs, truffle fries, and rigatoni, which are on special during happy hour.

Arm's Reach Bistro

On your way back from Mount Seymour dip into Deep Cove Village to eat at the Arm's Reach Bistro. Their menu features thoughtfully prepared pastas and mains as well as a creative cocktail list. If you're looking for a deal, Wednesdays are pasta and pint night and Thursdays are burger and beer night.

Scratch Kitchen

To taste what many call the North Shore's best pizza, visit Scratch Kitchen. Their Deep Cove location is on the way back from Mount Seymour and their Lonsdale location is close to Grouse Mountain. Their pizzas run the gamut from traditional pepperoni to the fusion flavours of butter paneer.

Burgoo

Burgoo is known for their comfort food, and you'll find rib-sticking food from around the world on their menu including their namesake dish, Kentucky Burgoo, a type of stew. Locals love their cheese-forward dishes: grilled cheese, fondue, and mac & cheese. Their drinks menu features lots of craft beer, cider, BC wines, and classic cocktails. Their North Vancouver location is around the corner from the Lonsdale Quay and Seabus terminal, which is convenient if you're on your way home from Grouse Mountain or taking public transit from any of the three ski hills.
