Family Day 2026 is happening on February 16, a statutory holiday in BC, as well as in many other provinces. If you’re in Vancouver for this year’s Family Day, it’s an opportunity to spend quality time together. While it may be hard to tear everyone from their devices, getting the whole gang out the door will be worthwhile. Together, you can make memories at scenic locations that offer a range of activities that both adults and kids can enjoy.

Wanting to maximize fun for all on Family Day 2026 in Vancouver? Here are some great options!

Visit Outdoor Destinations on Family Day 2026

Outdoor adventures at popular attractions are a short ride away. Capilano Suspension Bridge operates a free shuttle to and from downtown, making it easy to get to on Family Day 2026. Once you cross the swaying bridge, head to the Treehouse to get a Rainforest Explorer booklet. You can put your heads together to complete challenges while wandering through the lush woods.

If you want to experience the magic of snow, take a gondola up Grouse Mountain. The Mountain gives discounts on admission on Family Day 2026, with plenty of activities at the peak to keep the kids busy. Practice your hockey moves on their mountaintop outdoor rink, or gleefully ride a sled down their Sliding Zone (hold on tight!).

Learn and Have Fun at Educational Attractions

Sneak in some educational visits on Family Day 2026 in Vancouver. The kids will have such a blast they won’t clue in they’re learning. Science World celebrates all things STEM, with shows, films, and exhibitions that appeal to children’s curiosity about the world. The Creative Technology Gallery is especially immersive, inviting you and the kids to bring animated characters and stories to life.

You can also make your way to Vanier Park, home to the Vancouver Maritime Museum, which teaches about local waters. The Museum goes all out with their Family Day Vancouver event with food trucks, performers, and hands-on stations. As you tour their exhibitions, look out for the skeleton of a Cuvier’s beaked whale, a rarely seen species found ashore in Haida Gwaii.

Go for a Hike in the Woods

There’s nothing like hiking as you breathe in crisp air under a canopy of towering trees. For forest bathing with the kids, UBC’s Pacific Spirit Park has numerous scenic trails. They range from easy-going strolls to longer hikes that take you past creeks, a unique bog, and beaches with views of the mountains. Leave feeling tranquil and uplifted.

If you and your kids are looking for a chance to dress up as your favourite anime characters, you’re in luck. The last day of FAN EXPO Vancouver lands on Family Day 2026. The annual expo, spanning three days, brings together devoted fans of anime, gaming, sci fi, and horror. Celebrities sign autographs, comic artists go head-to-head in sketch duels, and children can craft at the Kids’ Zone.

After Family Day 2026 in Vancouver, the kids might be begging to spend more time with you (here’s hoping)!
