Prost, Vancouver! Beer. Bratwurst. Lederhosen. General good, festive vibes. Oktoberfest is the perfect excuse to raise a stein and celebrate all things Bavarian, whether it’s a personal tradition or just because it’s good fun.

From big annual beer festivals to brewery takeovers, here are a few Vancouver Oktoberfest events worth checking out this year.

Harvest Haus | PNE Forum

What’s Vancouver’s largest, rowdiest Bavarian-style celebration, you may ask? Easy: Harvest Haus.

Now in its 9th year, this two-night Oktoberfest party takes over the PNE Forum with long communal tables, steins the size of your head, oompah bands, axe throwing and a dance floor that only gets rowdier as the night goes on. Expect over 25 European and craft beers, a Marktplatz filled with pretzels and sausages, and a lot of sing-along energy.

And to tie the experience together, the PNE Forum is just a quick 15-minute drive from downtown and close to plenty of hotels like the Atrium, so you can go all out, then crash close by. Costumes are highly encouraged. Hangovers are inevitable, but totally worth it.

Parallel 49 Brewing Oktoberfest | East Vancouver

If big beer halls aren’t your scene, Parallel 49 Brewing’s Oktoberfest offers a more laid-back, East Van take on the celebration. But that doesn’t mean it skimps on the steins.

In past years, P49 has hosted a multi-weekend fest throughout late September and gone all-out with limited-edition Bavarian-inspired beers, pretzels, schnitzel and live music, all served up in their open-air, street-front beer garden and spacious tasting room.

The vibe: bring your friends, claim a picnic table and work your way through a flight (or three) of seasonal beers. It's the perfect balance of celebration and laid back charm that’s fun but doesn’t make you feel like you need to be in lederhosen (though no one’s stopping you).

BREWHALL Oktoberfest | Olympic Village

Once you see Olympic Village’s BREWHALL, you’ll swear it was built to host an Oktoberfest.

This brewery’s annual celebration takes a food-forward approach, featuring a full Bavarian-inspired menu. From currywurst with kölsch-braised bratwurst and crinkle-cut fries to a schnitzel burger stacked with fried pork schnitzel, you won’t leave hungry.

On tap? German-inspired beers like last year’s cheekily named Köl Story Bro kölsch and a malty German amber ale can be expected, plus chilled jäger shots and Paulaner hefe-weissbier to keep things festive. With its casual, communal atmosphere and prime central location, it’s the perfect spot to mix Bavarian tradition with Vancouver’s craft beer culture.

There you have it: Vancouver’s Oktoberfest celebrations prove you don’t need to fly to Germany for a true taste of Bavaria. Just bring your appetite, some friends and maybe a pair of lederhosen, and get ready for a clinking good time.

And beyond these marquee events, Vancouver’s Oktoberfest spirit spills into countless bars, taprooms and community gatherings across the city. There’s something for every kind of crowd, from cozy pubs pouring German-inspired brews to neighbourhood spots adding their own cultural spin on the celebration. Families, foodies, party-goers, casual pint-seekers. All can find their corner of the celebration in Vancouver, making this city one that truly knows how to raise a stein.
