Robson Square Ice Rink opens for 2016 season of free ice skating
Need a date night idea this holiday season? Or, maybe a way to keep your kids busy for a couple of hours? Robson Square’s outdoor skating rink will be opening for the season on Thursday, December 1, 2016 and will remain open until February 14, 2017.
Taking turns around the ice rink has become a favourite Vancouver winter tradition, which is best enjoyed with friends, family and loved ones. The rink is open from morning to late at night and is a magical place to enjoy the holidays. Best of all, if you have your own skates, it’s free!

No matter your skill level, the Robson Square ice rink is a great way to spend a few hours. If you want to avoid crowds, you can go during the week. The big crowds show up on evenings and weekends.
If you have your own skates, getting onto the rink is free. Or, you can rent a pair of skates for just $4. A huge bargain for a couple hours entertainment! There are festive lights set up around the rink, holiday music, and a concession stand selling snacks and warm drinks to warm you up.
For those not quite confident in their ability to stay standing up on the ice, there are metal bars available to help you stand steady. Or, if you’re not a fan of skating, take a seat on the Vancouver Art Gallery steps and watch the fun from a distant. The view of the skating rink is a quintessential Vancouver holiday scene.

The skate rink is perfectly placed in the centre of Downtown Vancouver, so after taking a spin around the rink, you can keep the activity going with a visit to the Vancouver Art Gallery or a stroll down Robson Street… (Hey, you saved money on skating, time to splurge in your favourite store!)
