Where to Go Axe Throwing Around Vancouver
Put on your favourite plaid shirt, then head to one of these axe throwing spots around Vancouver to embrace your inner lumberjack.
What is Axe Throwing?
Axe throwing is exactly what it sounds like: it’s throwing axes at a target. The rules are fairly similar to darts since you get more points the closer the axe is to the bullseye.
You might not be surprised to learn that competitive axe throwing began in Canada. Axe throwing has been included in logger sports competitions for decades, but the sport became a recreational pastime in 2006 with the founding of the Backyard Axe Throwing League in 2006. Since then, axe throwing venues have sprouted up across Canada and around the world.
Axe Throwing Tips
- If possible, book your time slot in advance. Axe throwing venues are often booked up, especially on weekends.
- Wear closed-toe shoes. You won’t be allowed to throw in sandals.
- Listen to the safety briefing carefully and follow instructions. Axes are sharp!
- Beginners should start with an overhead two-handed throwing technique. Axe throwing venue staff can show you how. After you get some practice, you can try the more advanced one-handed technique.
