With its location on the Pacific Ocean, Vancouver faces west into the setting sun. Create beautiful memories and enjoy the fresh air each evening as you take a moment to watch the splendour of the sunset from these iconic viewpoints around the city.

The best sunset views in Stanley Park are from Third Beach since it faces west, directly towards the setting sun. Finish your day at the beach with a picnic on the sand while the sun goes down. Or pause to enjoy the sunset on a bike ride around Stanley Park on the Seawall. Just make sure your bike has lights to make your way back after it gets dark!

Sunset Beach at the entrance to False Creek is aptly named since it is a wonderful place to enjoy the sunset. Grab dinner at one of the restaurants along Denman or Davie Streets in the West End, then stroll along the Seawall from English Bay down to Sunset Beach to catch the sunset.

Queen Elizabeth Park sits atop Little Mountain, the highest point in Vancouver, so it has expansive views of the city, the North Shore Mountains, and the ocean. It's also an incredible place to watch the sunset. Enjoy evening light in the Quarry Gardens before heading to the viewpoint near Seasons in the Park restaurant when the sun goes down.

Known as "Kits Beach" to locals, Kitsilano Beach is a popular place for swimming, beach volleyball, and laid-back picnics. It also has an incredible view of the setting sun. Get takeout from one of the nearby restaurants or book a table at The Boathouse Restaurant to enjoy the sunset with dinner.

On the Water

One of the most unique ways to enjoy the sunset in Vancouver is from the water. Book a sunset kayak tour with Vancouver Water Adventures or Jericho Beach Kayak to paddle into the setting sun. If you'd rather sit back and relax while the sun goes down, go for a ride on the False Creek Ferries or Aquabus. You'll enjoy incredible evening light along with beautiful scenery in False Creek.

For elevated sunset views, head up to Cypress Mountain in West Vancouver. There are two great spots for watching the sunset along Cypress Bowl Road. The first one is the Cypress Pop-Up Village. This park has an incredible panoramic view as well as a food truck called The Shed serving up hot pizza and coffee. If you drive further up the road, you'll arrive at Cypress Lookout where you can gaze down to the Lion's Gate Bridge and the entire city of Vancouver.

Shipyards Pier

Enjoy the sunset along with an expansive view of the city skyline from the pier at the Shipyard District across Burrard Inlet from downtown Vancouver. Enjoy the cotton candy colours of the sunset as you stroll along the pier enjoying an ice cream cone. With Earnest Ice Cream, Welcome Parlour Ice Cream, and Dolce Amore Gelato all located a few blocks away, you'll have trouble choosing where to get your scoop.

Ride the gondola up to Grouse Mountain to enjoy the sunset from the Peak of Vancouver. You'll get a front-row seat to the sunset from the gondola or from the patios at the Peak Chalet. But for the best views, book a window-side table at Altitudes Bistro to watch the sunk sink into the ocean behind Vancouver Island.
