Vancouver outdoor pools open for the season on Saturday, May 19
With the heat wave that’s been hitting Vancouver these past few days (and continuing into the foreseeable future), outdoor pool season couldn’t be coming fast enough!
Luckily, the official opening date for Vancouver’s much-loved outdoor pools is happening soon. So, if you’re ready to plan a day spend dipping into the refreshing waters of a Vancouver outdoor pool, you’re in luck.
Whether you’re a fan of Kits Pool, Second Beach pool, or New Brighton Pool, their opening dates and information are below.
Kitsilano Pool
Kits Pool, the “third sexiest pool in the world” has been hidden under a large white tarp for the past few months undergoing major renovations to reduce the use of potable water. Opening Mid-May, the Kits Pool is one of the best places to spend a summer day or evening, lounging poolside by the ocean.
Kits Pool officially opens for the season on May 19 and will remain open daily until Mid September.
Until June 10, the pool will be open from noon to 8:30pm on Monday – Friday, and 9am to 8:30pm on Saturday and Sunday.

Second Beach Pool
Following closely in popularity to Kits Pool is Second Beach pool, a gorgeous and giant ocean-side pool located in Stanley Park. This heated, outdoor pool is a blast for families and has multiple child-friendly water slides, a sloped entry, and separated lanes for lap swimmers.
Like Kits Pool, Second Beach Pool will open on May 19 and remain open until early September. Until June 10, the pool will be open from noon – 8:30pm on weekdays and 10am – 8:30pm on weekends.

New Brighton Pool
Tucked away near the Second Narrows Bridge is the picturesque New Brighton Park. This park is popular with dog walkers but remains mostly quiet due to its semi-hidden location behind the train tracks.
A great, family-friendly pool, the New Brighton Pool offers up regular length swimming, along with a sloped entry for children. Not to mention its stunning views of the North Shore mountains.

Maple Grove Pool
Maple Grove Pool is a heated, outdoor shallow pool in Vancouver’s Kerrisdale neighbourhood and is great for kids. The landscaped, summer water park is wheelchair-accessible and includes a mini island and café.
