Bloedel Conservatory

A tropical paradise set atop Vancouver’s highest point, the Bloedel Conservatory in Queen Elizabeth Park engages all the senses with colourful flora and fauna encased in a spacious dome. The attraction is home to more than 120 free-flying birds and 500 exotic plants and flowers, all of which coexist harmoniously in the dome’s temperature-controlled environment.

Effortlessly picturesque, the Bloedel Conservatory has hosted film crews of hits like Supergirl (catch the dome in the background of a press conference interrupted by a fiery attack, and view more sites in Destination Vancouver’s self-guided Supergirl itinerary);Fringe(where Fauxlivia takes her baby for a stroll); Timeless (the conservatory doubles for Houston Park in 1969); and Continuum (where Kiera learns about the new future at Carlos Fonnegra Memorial Park).

Refer to this handy checklist of must-do activities while visiting the Bloedel Conservatory:

Bird-watching Visitors will find red, blue and dwarf Macaws; African parrots; Chinese pheasants; and many more winged spectacles flying among the conservatory’s lush greenery. Handy guides and a kid-friendly scavenger hunt are available at the front desk.

Three tropical ecosystems The Bloedel Conservatory houses three vastly distinct climate zones: tropical rainforest, subtropical rainforest and desert. Each demonstrates the importance of habitat protection and plant conservation while showcasing key features of biodiversity.

Seasons in the Park Boasting panoramic views of Vancouver and the Coast Mountains, Seasons serves upscale West Coast fare against an unforgettable backdrop. The outdoor patio is perfect for unwinding with a glass of wine after a busy day of exploring.

Queen Elizabeth Park The 53-hectare (130-acre) park is home to sprawling gardens, tennis courts, pitch-and-putt golf and – thanks to its spectacular beauty – a constant tide of wedding photography.
