Crowded outdoor market with food trucks along waterfront under bright sun and clear sky.

The Lonsdale Quay on Vancouver’s North Shore is a great place to spend a warm Spring day shopping, playing and dining with kids, but the fun doesn’t stop when the sun sets.

Beginning on May 6th, the neighbouring Shipyards Night Market will be open to visitors – accessible every Friday night from 5pm to 10pm. Entering its fifth year, the night market on The Shore has exploded as one of the top, can’t-miss outdoor events in the city – and it’s not just popular for its beer gardens.

Here are 5 reasons why the North Vancouver Shipyards Night Market is the perfect spot for soaking up the scenery with family on Friday nights.

1) The breathtaking views of Vancouver. The night market is located in the heart of the newly-rennovated waterfront Shipbuilders’ Square, and stretches along the waterfront boardwalk at the foot of the Lower Lonsdale corridor of North Vancouver. Visitors can gaze at the skyline of downtown Vancouver while noshing on dinner and bopping their heads to the live music.

2) The drool-worthy food trucks. Quickly becoming the largest gathering of food trucks in BC’s Lower Mainland, the Shipyards Night Market is the best place to taste some delicious dishes from your food truck faves, including Le Tigre‘s modern Asian cuisine, the ooey gooey mac n’ cheese plates from REEL Mac and Cheese, and savoury pies from the Aussie Pie Guy. 3) The live music. The night market features live performances by local artists from across BC – filling the air with funky tunes while you feast by the sea.

4) The local vendors. Peruse through the plethora of indoor and outdoor vendor tables, featuring products from BC’s local artisans, bakers and farmers. Pick up a piece of locally-made jewellery, organic meats, soaps and sweets, or a t-shirt keepsake to commemorate your visit.

5) The boardwalk. Wrap up your visit with a stroll along the picturesque Shipyards boardwalk while gazing at the sparkling lights that glimmer on the water’s surface.
