Tackle the Urban Grind this March in Vancouver
Want to get really, really strong leg muscles? Looking for an excuse to exercise in the city with a unique activity that ends with an excellent view of Downtown? You’re in luck!
This March, the Harbour Centre is inviting everyone to get their heart rates up and their calf muscles burning by climbing the Urban Grind – the stairs to the top of the iconic Vancouver lookout. With the Grouse Grind closed for winter, this is the perfect opportunity to get a similar workout without the hassle of walking through nature.
On March 1, 8, 15, 22, and 29th, the 553-foot-tall Harbour Centre in downtown Vancouver will open up its 40 flights of stairs to fitness buffs to get some amazing exercise with an added reward…
Tackling the Urban Grind costs just $5 to participate, and this includes an unlimited number of up-and-downs between 4pm and 6pm. Best of all, the $5 that you’ll be paying to enter the event includes one beer at the top, DJ entertainment, and a $5 coupon to the food court at the bottom of the Harbour Centre. So, essentially you’re making money!
If you’re looking to climb the equivalent of the Grouse Grind, you are permitted to ascend and descend the stairs as many times as you desire. To be more precise, it will take about five climbs to complete the Grouse Grind equivalent (that’s 2,965 stairs!)

So, to reiterate, climbers will be greeted at the top by a stunning 360º aerial view of Vancouver, a refreshing beer, and DJ entertainment. You’ll also have the ability to customize your workout by completing the route as many times as you like during the workout time.
The Urban Grind at the Harbour Centre lobby (555 West Hastings Street) will happen every Tuesday in March between 4:00pm – 6:00pm. Get your sweat on in the middle of the city for cheap! Check out the Harbour Centre website for full details.
