Has the craft beer revolution left you feeling out of the loop? Tired of trying to distinguish a citra hop from a centennial?

East Vancouver’s Sunday Cider offers an alternative to the craft beer revolution that’s overtaken the city. Since 2015, Sunday Cider has been making cider out of B.C. apples, offering seasonal growler fills.

The seasonal operation has been closed for the last seven months. But it’s marking its reopening this Saturday, with the first of four outdoor events called Summer Sizzlers.

The Summer Sizzler is a free outdoor party at the cidery’s location (1575 Vernon Dr.). The first is this Saturday, June 3, from 1-7 p.m. Sunday Cider will be pouring a couple of old favourites and a couple of new ciders.

The new ciders include Sunday Sidra and Gulf Island Primo. The former is a small-batch Spanish-style cider, oak-aged for over ten months. The Gulf Island Primo is a Prosecco-like blend of heirloom and bittersweet apples. Mainstays include the Sunday Sesh and Sunday Wild.

There will be growler fills, street food, and “tropical transmissions supplied by Pacific Rhythm sound selectors,” according to the Summer Sizzler Facebook page. “Kiddos and dogs welcome,”

The other Summer Sizzlers are scheduled for July 15, Aug. 12 and Sept. 16.
