Vancouver’s vibrant Chinatown will be hosting several free Chinese New Year celebrations this year. Most notably, the 46th Vancouver Chinatown Spring Festival Parade will mark the beginning of the Year of the Pig!
For nearly 50 years, the Chinese New Year Parade has been the signature event of Vancouver’s Chinatown. Featuring lion dances, cultural dance troupes, marching bands, martial arts performances, and so much more, this festival is not to be missed!
The parade will be held on Sunday, February 10, 2019 in Downtown Vancouver, and will begin at 11:00am.

Chinese New Year of the Dog Celebration
The parade is a major part of the Lunar New Year Festival, a regional event celebrating Spring, Chinese New Year and traditional Asian New Year celebrations taking place in Vancouver and Richmond.
Boasting over 100,000 spectators each year, the Vancouver Chinatown Spring Festival Parade is one of the three largest non-commercial annual parades in Vancouver.
The parade features the largest assembly of traditional lion dance teams in Canada with dozens of colourful costumes and energetic dancers. On top of that, there will be 70+ groups in the parade, bringing over 3,000 participants from various community and cultural groups.
The Parade Route
The 1.3-km long route starts at the Millennium Gate on Pender Street (between Shanghai Alley and Taylor Street), proceeds east along Pender Street, turns south onto Gore Street, turns west onto Keefer Street and then disperses on Keefer at Abbott. See the map here.
Parade Schedule
The parade will start at 11 am on Sunday, February 10th, 2019 and will take about two and a half hours to complete.
