If you’ve always wanted to ski or snowboarding at three in the morning, now’s your chance during this weekend’s 24 Hours of Winter event at Grouse Mountain. Starting at 8:30am on February 6, 2016 the resort will be remaining open until 10pm the next day!

That’s a whole 24 hours of snowboarding that you can cram into your Family Day weekend! The celebration is held as a sort of “remembrance” of the 2010 Winter Olympics games held in Vancouver. And what better way to remember those awesome times than with a full day, night, and another day filled with snowy, winter activities!

This year, you can celebrate on the slopes from sundown to sunrise, dance the night away under starry skies to DJ remixes, and glide down the Cut while taking in the sparkling lights of the city below you.

The 24 Hours of Winter celebration will take place from February 6, 2016 until February 7, 2016 and will include a wide array of non-stop activities, including:

Skiing / snowboarding (from 8:30am Saturday until 10pm on Sunday): Think you could last all night? Don’t forget to bring lots of extra layers!

Snowshoeing (from 9am – dusk, Saturday & Sunday, plus special night tours): There will also be complimentary 1-hour guided tours held at sunset (5pm Saturday), midnight Saturday, and sunrise at 7am on Sunday. Meet at the Fireside Hut to join.

Ice skating (from noon Saturday until 10pm on Sunday): Plus there will also be a live DJ spinning tunes from 7pm – 10pm on Saturday, so you can get your ice-dance on!

Sliding Zone (10am – 10pm, Saturday & Sunday): Rent a snow carpet and slide down a hill for a fun and exhilarating way to get down a hill.

Light Walk (from Dusk – 10pm, Saturday & Sunday): Walk amongst the fir and spruce around Blue Grouse Lake where stunning light installations bring radiance to the winter night.

There will also be an assortment of special activities and events happening just for the day, including:

Snowshoe grind mountain race (Sunday, 10am race start): Whether you’re looking for the fun and exhilaration of testing your skills against other active snowshoers, or looking to get out and have some social fun, the Snowshoe Grind Mountain Run provides a unique experience for snowshoers of all levels.

Scavenger Hunt (Saturday – 2pm until 10pm): Find branded disks around the Mountain and bring them to the Chalet Atrium to receive a prize. There will be 20 prizes available to be won.

Winter Walk and Meditative Yoga Session (Saturday at 6pm): Begin the evening under the stars with a 15-minute guided winter walk through the Light Walk. Then, enjoy a 1.5 hour yoga and meditation session by candlelight with YYoga instructor Shivani Wells.

To cap off all the celebrations, there will be a Torch Parade held on Saturday night at 9pm, with enthusiastic skiers carving their way down the mountain with torches! It’s an amazing sight to see, and one of the most exciting moments of the night.
