Top 5 Events for the 2017 Vancouver Pride Festival
Time to let your rainbow flag fly! The most colourful and diverse festival of the year is kicking off with the start of the 39th annual Vancouver Pride Festival next week.
This community celebration attracts crowds of more than 650,000 people for good reason – it’s a great party! Whether you’re looking for a boat cruise, a silent disco, or a giant parade, there’s something for everyone in celebration of the LGBTQ2+ community.
Pride 2017 includes over 20 events throughout the summer. There’s an event calendar on the Vancouver Pride website, or you can check out some of the most popular events scheduled for the festival below:
Prance on the Pier
Date: Wednesday, August 2, 2017
Time: Starts at 5:00pm
Where: North Vancouver Shipyard Night Market
What: The first all-ages Pride dance in North Vancouver with free entry, DJs, food, games, and a community zone!

Davie Street Party
When: Friday, August 4, 2017
Time: From 6pm – midnight
Where: Davie Village between Burrard and Jervis
What: One of the most popular events of the festival, the Davie Street Party features multiple live music stages, lots of delicious food, art, and even a “silent disco” with 8 DJs to keep you moving all night long.
Terry Wallace Memorial Breakfast
When: Saturday, August 5, 2017
Time: Starts at 8am
Where: Jim Deva Plaza in the Davie Village
What: Dancing all night at the Davie Street Party can give you a big appetite! Join this community breakfast honouring one of the founders of Pride in Vancouver. Enjoy syrup-covered pancakes and other breakfast delights in the heart of the Davie Village.
Sunset Beach Festival
When: Sunday, August 6, 2017
Time: Starts at 11am
Where: Sunset Beach Park (1204 Beach Avenue)
What: This event brings together thousands of individuals in the LGBTQ2+ community and their allies for a day of fun-filled festivities. Enjoy the diverse entertainment lineup at the main stage, explore the Vendor Village, visit the Family Fun Zone and the brand new Community Zone, or dance the afternoon away to DJs spinning in the beer garden. Stay and take in the festival for the whole day, or pop by after watching the incredible parade.

39th Annual Vancouver Pride Parade
When: Sunday, August 6, 2017
Time: Starts at 12pm
Where: West End, Vancouver
What: Did someone mention parade? The Pride Parade is a staple of the Vancouver summer calendar, and this year it may be bigger than ever. Come for the amazing floats, fun colours, and to show what pride means to you. After the parade, head back to Sunset Beach to keep the celebration going!
