Street Food City Food Truck Festival Brings the Best Eats to the Streets
On these long, dark nights it’s helpful to take solstice in the fact that we’re almost more than half way to summer! If you take a trip down memory lane to last summer, you may recall spending a warm, summer evening checking out the local Vancouver food trucks and dining “a la cart” (pun intended) while watching the sun setting from English Bay.
Oh, it’s still January you say? It’s raining out, you say!? Fear not, Vancouverites are known for their ability to adapt and thrive on these dreary, wet days. For a little taste of summer in the winter, you’ve got to check out the much-anticipated Street Food City Festival that will be happening from January 23 – 29, 2017 in Downtown Vancouver.

As part of the Dine Out Vancouver festival, Street Food City is your opportunity to sample from a collection of some of Vancouver’s best food carts all in one convenient location. Now in its sixth year, this food cart fiesta offers a multitude of delicious options ranging from pizza or grilled cheese to tacos or an Aussie-style pie.
The festival runs for the last week of January from Monday, January 23 to Sunday, January 29. There will be over 25 carts participating in the event with different options available each day.
Last year, over 20,000 people took advantage of the mid-winter outdoor picnic. This year, there’s space for even more with the festival taking place on parts of Howe and Robson street on the South plaza of the Vancouver Art Gallery.

To add to the festive atmosphere, there will also be balloons, tables (under cover, one would hope), seating and music – making it a great family-friendly event.
A sampling of the participants includes: Aussie Pie Guy, Culver City Salads, Fat Duck Mobile Eatery, Melt City, Roaming Dragon, Tacofino, The Kaboom Box, Vij’s Railway Express, and many more. (A full list is available here).
On top of all the excitement, because it is part of the Dine Out Vancouver festival, there will also be special creations made just for the event and discount pricing available. You’ll have to check out the event to see what they’ve got prepared for you!
