YVR named best airport in North America, for the 8th year in a row!
It shouldn’t come as much of a surprise that the YVR Vancouver International Airport is known as being one of the best airports in the world. In fact, YVR was named ‘Best Airport in North America’ in a vote by 13.8 million airline passengers worldwide!
Officially, Vancouver has been ranked the #13 top airport in the world, listed closely behind airports in Singapore, Tokyo, Zurich, and England. But, YVR easily tops the list of North American airports – it isn’t until #26 (Cincinnati/Kentucky) that we see another North American airport listed in the awards.
Best of all, YVR has made the remarkable distinction of receiving this top accolade for eight consecutive years! An amazing feat when you consider the competition.
The ranking comes from the SKYTRAX World Airport Awards, considered the global benchmark of airport excellence. Results were determined by surveying more than 13.8 million passengers in 550 airports around the world.
The survey measures 39 elements in the airport travel experience ranging from check-in to security and border clearance processes, comfort, efficiency, signage, transportation availability, passenger amenities and friendliness. It remains the world’s largest independent airport customer satisfaction survey. More information on the Skytrax World Airport Awards is available at worldairportawards.com.

Whether it’s the efficiency of the airport, the original native art that greets passengers as they arrive, the clean and fresh air, or just the views of the nearby snowcapped mountains… YVR definitely has a lot going for it.
