Freshly picked: Spring Farmers Markets opening for the season

Spring has sprung and so have the delicious fruits and veggies that are filling up the local farmers markets! Now that the winter farmers markets have closed for the season, the larger spring/summer markets will be opening throughout May and June!

You can check the eatlocal.org website to find out what’s in season, but there’s a good chance you’ll be able to find apples, chard, dandelion greens, kale, nettles, potatoes, mushrooms, grass-fed beef & lamb, craft beer, and a whole lot more.

Riley Park Market

During the summer market season Riley Park features 30+ vendors each week – a fresh selection of just-picked seasonal fruits & veggies, ethically-raised meats & sustainable seafood, artisanal bread & prepared foods, craft beer, wine, & spirits, handmade craft, and coffee & food trucks.

  • Opening Date: April 28, 2018 (today!)
  • Location: 30th Avenue & Ontario Street (Mount Pleasant)

Trout Lake Farmers Market

This is where you’ll find the vendors who have been doing it since the beginning; what started as 14 farmers ‘squatting’ at the Croatian Cultural Centre back in 1995 has grown into Vancouver’s most well-known and beloved market.

Visitors come from near and far to sample artisan breads & preserves, stock up on free-range and organic eggs & meats, get the freshest, hard-to-find heirloom vegetables and taste the first Okanagan cherries and peaches of the season.

Kitsilano Farmers Market

Every Sunday from May – October, the parking lot of Kitsilano Community Centre bustles with 50+ farms and producers bringing Vancouver’s west side the finest and freshest food in the city.

At the market, you’ll find a great selection of just-picked, seasonal fruits & vegetables, ethically raised and grass fed meat, eggs, & dairy, sustainable seafood, fresh baked bread & artisanal food, local beer, wine, & spirits, and beautiful, handmade craft.

Mount Pleasant Farmers Market

Mount Pleasant is Vancouver’s easy-going Sunday market located on the east side of Dude Chilling Park – the gathering place for a diverse crowd of young families, artists, dog owners, and quirky neighbourhood personalities.

Amble over and pick up some afternoon picnic supplies, groceries for the week, and Sunday dinner fixings from 25+ farms and producers.
