Where to Warm Up by the Fire in Vancouver

It’s brisk out there, folks! Whether it’s a campfire or a fireplace feature in a snazzy hotel, there’s just somethingabout sitting by the fire. It’s time to get cozy for date night or dinner with your housemate. Warm-up by the fire over dinner or cocktails at some of Vancouver’s best restaurants and hotels.

Until February 5, 2021, in line with the public health order issued on November 20, non-essential travel into and out of BC is not recommended. I’m very spoiled. Why? I have a wood-burning fireplace in my home. (Please don’t hate me.) But before that happy occurrence, I was (and still am) a fan of choosing a restaurant that has a cozy fireplace or firepit that my partner and I settle by.

Whether it’s a campfire or a fireplace feature in a snazzy hotel, there’s just somethingabout sitting in front of a fire that makes you feel super hygge and at peace. Here are some of the best cozy fireplaces in the city:

Lupo

With its Yaletown heritage home location and Italian cuisine, Lupo Restaurant & Vinoteca is a cozy, romantic spot that exudes comfort. Italian food is always a good idea but is especially comforting in Lupo’s warm atmosphere.

The Roof at Black + Blue

With its location in Vancouver’s finance district, one might not think about The Roof at Black + Blue as a typically cozy spot. But when you gather for cocktails with your bubble around a firepit, there’s an equally hip and cozy vibe. Combine that with excellent steak, and a glass of red and you’re all set!

Lift

With a stunning view of both Coal Harbour and Stanley Park, the two-story patio at Lift Bar Grill View is a coveted place to sit with a glass of wine and a cozy blanket – perfect for a date! With heaters and a fire pit available on the patio, you can take in the stellar views all year round.

Staycation anyone? Nestled in the heart of the downtown core, the Wedgewood Hotel and its restaurant Bacchus give off a cozy elegance that compliments the hotel and spa’s reputation for luxe excellence. Grab a book and settle in for a brandy, tea or coffee by one of their fireplaces.

Things to keep in mind:

Check venue and attraction websites for hours, reservations ticketing and other policies, etc.
Masks are mandatory at most attractions; eateries will ask you to wear a mask until seated.
Staff is working hard in a “new normal” — please be kind and patient.
Respect the policies of establishments you visit.
