There’s no denying that summer in Vancouver was amazing and while it may have been difficult for some to leave summer behind (ourselves included), it’s easy to transition into Autumn if you embrace it fully. Here are 9 ways to fall in love with the changing leaves and cooler weather:

8. Stock up on cider at your local farmer’s market

A popular symbol of Fall is the pumpkin spice latte, loved by many throughout the city and primarily the cult of infinity scarf clad, Michael Kors toting females. HOWEVER, there’s nothing quite as comforting as a steaming cup of apple cider, especially when it’s spiked with a little bit of rum. Pick up a few bottles at one of your local farmer’s market – of cider, we mean.

7. Hike Burnaby Mountain

Just a short commute outside of the city, Burnaby Mountain boasts a picture-perfect Autumn view. Hike up the mountain for sunset and watch the entire city become ablaze in gold while surrounded by Fall foliage.

6. Join a book club

Nowadays, being part of a book club is über cool. There are lots to join throughout the city or you can always start your own at home with a small group of friends. Add cider or spiked hot chocolate to the mix and get the creative convo flowing.

5. Put your green thumb to work

According to the experts Fall is also one of the best times to plant your trees and shrubs before the winter cold (more like a chill on the West Coast) kicks in. Check out this great article to help you get started on growing your own urban garden.

4. Get your pumpkin on

Do it. Go pumpkin crazy. Drink all of the PSL’s. Make a trip to one of the many pumpkin patches in the Lower Mainland. Pumpkin smoothies, pumpkin pie, pumpkin cookies/muffins/balls. Purchase stencils and tools to carve the raddest Halloween pumpkin. What we’re trying to say is, give in to the ‘kin.

3. Wander through Stanley Park

An activity that is enjoyable 365 days of the year, revel in the magic of Autumn’s colors while strolling through Stanley Park. So many perfect photo ops Inside Vancouver would approve of and if they’re good enough, even feature.
