We All Scream for Ice Cream

Summer days call for ice cream, but it wasn’t always easy to get your hands on! Stop by Historic Stewart Farm to learn how early 1900s families made ice cream at home... with some muscle. Get in on the fun by doing some hand-churning yourself.

Each batch of ice cream takes one hour to make with several demonstrations happening throughout the afternoon. After your visit, maybe head to Crescent Beach down the road for a modern seaside cone.

Your itinerary

1. Start at the Welcome Centre
2. Go to the ice cream station on the farmhouse veranda
3. Do a scavenger hunt in the farmhouse and collect your certificate
4. Check in on the ice cream. It will be taking shape!
5. Visit the orchard and barn for a selfie with Horace
6. Pump water and maybe some dress up?
7. Another ice cream check. Getting there!
8. Make an ice cream themed craft in the Welcome Centre
9. Spot some wildlife in the river or the trails
10. The ice cream is ready!
