Overview

Have you ever wanted to speak to a tree? Me & The Forest, an interactive outdoor theatre adventure, is coming to Granville Island for the Vancouver International Children’s Festival from May 29th to June 14th. Using massive (we’re talking 5 metres tall!) puppets and immersive audio, this theatrical experience invites audiences to converse with the wonders of the natural world — alongside hundreds of fellow explorers.

The show swaps velvet playhouse seats for benches at Ron Basford Park, where you’ll put on a pair of wireless headphones and be among the first humans on earth to engage in a conversation with another species. Continuing their storied collaboration, Vancouver’s trailblazing performance company Boca del Lupo joins hands with Korea’s legendary ArtStageSAN and Algonquin playwright Yvette Nolan. With a vocal performance from Hiro Kanagawa (Avatar: The Last Airbender, Star Trek: Discovery) and music from Pietro Amato (Arcade Fire collaborator), larger-than-life puppets and water views, it’s a can’t-miss spectacle for all ages!
