Art Installations

Four large silos painted with colorful cartoon faces and clothing, with cement mixer trucks parked in front under a clear sky.

Overview

These 70 feet tall silos were once dull and grey until two Brazilian artists painted them. The silos are part of the concrete plant on Granville Island and the “Giants” are a way to brighten Granville Island. The “Giants” were commissioned by the Vancouver Biennale to bring Brazilian artists Gustavo and Otavio Pandolfo’s ongoing mural series to British Columbia. These silos were part of the Biennale’s Open-Air Museum, which showcased international art in Vancouver’s public spaces.
