Nature & Sightseeing

Sightseeing

Urban street scene with trees, a bicycle parked by a lamp post, and colorful murals on a building wall.

Overview

Nobody is sure exactly how Blood Alley got its name. Some say it originates from its place at the heart of the city’s butcher trade, others say it was thought to be the site of a hanging. More realistically, though, it is likely just the work of 1970’s journalists trying to make it sound more alluring. While its official name is still Trounce Alley – regardless of what Google Maps says – Blood Alley and the myths that surround its name are now a part of Vancouver’s lore.
