Survive Vancouver will take you to the most iconic filming locations from The Last of Us season 2 and make them transform before your eyes. At key locations along the way you will be prompted to use your phone as a portal to peer into the world of The Last of Us using augmented reality (AR).

At each location, use your phone to scan for clues, unlock a hidden passphrase, and uncover the city’s secret, hidden at the end.

Augmented reality (AR) is a technology that overlays digital content like images, sounds, or videos onto the real world through a device like a smartphone, tablet, or AR glasses. Unlike virtual reality (which immerses you in a completely digital environment), AR enhances what you see around you in real time—blending reality with digital elements.

How do I reveal the secret code?

We’ve scattered clues at four key locations across Vancouver. Travel to each location, use your phone to scan the area, and uncover codewords hidden just out of sight.

Once you’ve collected all four clues, piece them together to complete the secret code and unlock a final prize for surviving Vancouver.

What happens when I complete the secret code?

Accepted Answer

Once you’ve completed the secret code, you’ll unlock the coordinates for a 5th, hidden location where you’ll need to use the passphrase and complete the final part of the puzzle. You won’t want to skip this step—a prize is waiting for you at the end.

Can I still participate if I’m not in Vancouver?

You need to be in Vancouver to launch the AR experience, but you can still get lots of behind-the-scenes details about The Last of Us filming locations by checking out our episode guides. Consider booking a trip! This is one city-wide adventure you won’t want to miss.
