Summer in Vancouver is so very sweet. After months of cozy rain-filled days, the city bursts into a paradisal playground of lush greenery, sparkling blue water, sun-soaked patios and many, many events.

From Canada Day celebrations to music festivals and massive street parties, the longer days bring a long lineup of events worth attending, all of which are set against the backdrop of the glittering ocean and towering mountains.

Bard on the Beach Shakespeare Festival | June 9 - September 19, 2026

Love theatre? Imagine settling in for a Shakespeare play by the beach in an open-ended theatre, the ocean breeze on your skin and the blue sky above you. Pretty ideal summer evening material.

Bard on the Beach has been a staple event of Vancouver’s summers since 1990. This year, the festival returns from June 9 to September 19 at Vanier Park and will feature four productions across two stages: The Merry Wives of Windsor, Macbeth, Goblin: Oedipus and Antigone.

FIFA World Cup 2026™ Fan Fest | June 11 - July 19, 2026

The FIFA World Cup 2026™ is landing in Vancouver this summer, and it’s turning up the city’s heat. Alongside the seven matches Vancouver is hosting for the FIFA World Cup 2026™, the FIFA Fan Festival Vancouver™ will bring weeks of live screenings, live music events, food and other fan experiences to the city, turning parts of Vancouver into giant gathering spaces for soccer fans from around the world.

Even if you don’t have tickets to a match, this festival brings the on-pitch energy to the whole city, so you can fully embrace the excitement of this global event right here in Vancouver.

Italian Day | June 14, 2026

Commercial Drive, once named one of the world’s coolest streets, comes alive every summer for Italian Day. For one day a year, the Drive is taken over by the vibe of historic Little Italy: live music, patios, family activities, Italian eats from the street’s businesses, and plenty of dancing. It’s a full-on celebration of Italian culture and community, Vancouver-style.

Vancouver International Jazz Festival | June 19 - July 5, 2026

Calling all Jazz lovers. Every summer, Coast Jazz brings the city to life with the Vancouver International Jazz Festival, a celebration of jazz, blues, soul and funk. Local talent and internationally acclaimed artists fill Vancouver with music for over two weeks. Performances happen across the city, everywhere from intimate clubs and theatres to outdoor stages and free public plazas.

National Indigenous Peoples Day | June 21, 2026

Each year, Vancouver marks National Indigenous Peoples Day with community events, performances, markets and gatherings across the city.

One of the biggest celebrations usually happens at Grandview Park, where people gather for live music, dance performances and an Indigenous artisan market. There’s also programming at places like the Kitsilano Showboat, Bill Reid Gallery, Carnegie Community Centre, Stanley Park and the BC Sports Hall of Fame, with events that highlight Indigenous art, storytelling, culture and community.

Vancouver Natural Watch Party | June 27, 2026

Continuing in the spirit of the FIFA World Cup 2026™, footy fandom will be taken to new heights on Grouse Mountain for Vancouver’s Natural Watch Party on Saturday, June 27 at 2 p.m.

Perched high above the city in the alpine, fans can catch the Panama vs. England match on a large outdoor screen overlooking Vancouver. And after the final whistle, head to the híwus Feasthouse to immerse yourself in the cultures and traditions of the Squamish and Tsleil-Waututh Nations.

East Village Community Events | June - September, 2026

Looking to go beyond the downtown Vancouver festival circuit? Hastings-Sunrise has a full lineup of neighbourhood events that lean more local and laid back.

From the Sunrise Summer Kick Off to the East Village BIA Live Summer Music Series and the annual Harvest Festival, each offers live music, small businesses and food vendors. It’s the kind of summer programming that turns an afternoon stroll into an unexpectedly fun day out.

Canada Day at Canada Place | July 1, 2026

The summer of 2026 marks the 40th anniversary of Canada Together at Canada Place, one of the largest Canada Day celebrations held in the country.

It's a free, family-friendly, all-day event planned in collaboration with representatives from the Musqueam, Squamish and Tsleil-Waututh Nations. There’s live music across multiple stages, an Expo 86 exhibit, an Indigenous marketplace, food trucks, performers and exhibitors lining the waterfront.

Carnaval de Sol | July 10 - 12, 2026

With over 250 artists and performers, 120 hours of music, and 60 vendors and exhibitors, Carnaval del Sol is the largest Latin American festival in the Pacific Northwest, hosted at Jonathan Rogers Park in Vancouver's Mount Pleasant neighbourhood.

When Khatsahlano rolls around, you know summer in Vancouver is in full swing.

For one day only, Kitsilano’s buzzing West 4th Avenue transforms into a massive street party. Live music, local artists, patios, food vendors, artisans and more take over, and the summer energy surges.

It’s one of the city’s biggest (and totally free) music and arts festivals and the perfect excuse to spend the day wandering, snacking, shopping and soaking up the sun.

Vancouver Folk Festival | July 17, 18 & 19, 2026

One of the city’s most beloved summer events, the Vancouver Folk Music Festival showcases traditional and contemporary folk and roots music from around the world at beautiful Jericho Beach Park. The festival runs for three days, with single-day and weekend passes available.

Vancouver Chinatown Festival | July 25 - 26, 2026
