Following the Completion of the World Cup, Destination Vancouver Invites Fans to Unwind in Hammocks Made from Soccer Nets

New activation transforms soccer nets into hammocks placed at iconic Vancouver attractions and spaces
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: VANCOUVER, B.C. | 22 July 2026 – Destination Vancouver has launched ‘Hammock Goals’, a new public activation inspired by its Recouver in Vancouver campaign, inviting visitors and FIFA World Cup™ fans to slow down, recharge, and revel in the natural beauty of Vancouver.
The activation features a series of hammocks crafted from soccer goal nets, installed at some of Vancouver’s most iconic attractions and public spaces. The first hammocks have been placed at Kits Beach Pool, Stanley Park, Van Dusen Gardens and Grouse Mountain. At Grouse Mountain, visitors can experience the campaign's signature installation, a hammock crafted from a goal net used during all seven FIFA World Cup™ matches at BC Place.
A further installation will be added at Dr. Sun Yat-Sen Classical Chinese Garden next week. Additional hammocks will be gifted to the Swiss Football Association and Football Australia as a reminder of their historic matches in Vancouver and an open invitation to return and 'Recouver' at any time.
While billions around the world focused on the excitement unfolding at BC Place, ‘Hammock Goals’ celebrates something unique to Vancouver—the opportunity to reconnect with nature, enjoy extraordinary experiences, and return home feeling rejuvenated.
“The FIFA World Cup™ was an incredible spectacle, one filled with passion, energy and stressful moments,” said Stefan Hawes, Vice President, Global Marketing, Destination Vancouver. “But once that final whistle blows, Vancouver offers something just as important: a place to slow down, reconnect with nature and recharge. Whether it’s relaxing in a hammock overlooking the mountains, or unwinding beside the ocean, these are the moments that help visitors leave feeling better than when they arrived. That’s what it means to Recouver in Vancouver.”
This new activation builds on the central idea behind Destination Vancouver’s recently unveiled Recouver in Vancouver campaign: that visitors often leave the city feeling better than when they arrived.
