A locale with laid-back sophistication

Lined with contemporary art, furniture stores, and curated boutiques, South Granville is one of Vancouver’s most culturally rich neighbourhoods, with a legacy dating back to the early 1900s.

The first Granville Street Bridge opened

Initially, South Granville was a rustic retreat; Vancouverites would row across the river to camp in the wilderness. In 1902, the Vancouver Tourism Board promoted the area, bringing in entrepreneurs who helped the region prosper, laying the foundation you see today.

In 1930 the iconic art deco Stanley Industrial Alliance Stage opened.

Walk South Granville in a loop, heading up one side and down the other, stopping in at chic boutiques, art galleries, international restaurants, locally-owned cafés, and trendy brand-name stores. Heritage buildings, murals, and streets lined with cherry and maple trees offer picture-perfect backdrops. When the sun’s shining, join locals savouring the moment at one of the parks or open-air plazas.
