Overview

Vancouver’s FIFA World Cup 2026™ host city duties kick off at BC Place with the meeting of Australia and Türkiye at 9pm on Saturday, June 13.

Our city will provide a welcoming home base for thousands of Australian fans, who have long been drawn to Vancouver for our mix of nature, culture and cuisine. And, with a six-day gap until Australia takes on the United States in Seattle, there’s plenty of time to explore Vancouver, Whistler and beyond.

This will be the Socceroo’s seventh appearance at the FIFA World Cup™, with their most recent outing in 2022 seeing them narrowly eliminated by a score of 2-1 in the round of 16 by eventual tournament champions Argentina.

Led by Real Madrid superstar Arda Güler, Türkiye will kick off their third FIFA World Cup campaign at BC Place following a 24-year absence. In their last appearance at the finals, Türkiye shocked the world, narrowly losing out 1-0 to eventual champions Brazil in the semi-final, before finishing in 3rd place with a thrilling 3-2 win over South Korea. They'll be hoping for similar success in 2026, cheered on by their famously passionate fans.
