Film Venue Spotlight: Canadian Wilderness Adventures

Visitors to Vancouver inevitably find their way to Whistler, a leisurely two-hour drive up the stunningly scenic Sea-to-Sky Highway. Here, the outdoors takes centre stage with endless possibilities for year-round exploring – and many visitors find it easier (and more fun) to book a guided excursion that provides all of the thrills without the pain of planning. Enter Canadian Wilderness Adventures, a Whistler-based adventure touring company whose guided excursions span ATV’ing, canoeing, snowmobiling, dog sledding and beyond – in fact, the company is so well-regarded it’s become a go-to resource for visiting film crews.

During the past year, Canadian Wilderness Adventures’ film industry subsidiary, Canadian Mountain Productions, has provided services ranging from logistics and transportation to identifying mountain locations and providing operations support for the casts and crews of films and TV  shows such as War for the Planet of the Apes, Man of Steel, The Mountain Between Us, Psych and more. Visitors to Vancouver and Whistler can follow in the footsteps of these popular productions by booking their own guided nature journey with Canadian Wilderness Adventures – here are five to get started:

Canadian

Off-road Odyssey  Climb behind the wheel of a rugged 4x4 and hit the pedal to the metal. Your guide will teach you the ins and outs of operating the vehicle, after which you’ll hit the trails to explore mountain roads, power through creeks and over boulders, snap photos of wildlife and soak in stunning vistas at several mountain viewpoints.

Alta Lake Sightseeing Paddle  During this leisurely excursion, your guide will teach you basic paddle strokes so you can motor your way around Alta Lake. Toward the end of the journey, you’ll float along the famed River of Golden Dreams, where you can reflect in the solitude of nature.

Porsche Experience  Who says you can’t explore nature in style? This three-hour tour invites guests to get behind the wheel of a Porsche Cayenne S and zoom along the Sea to Sky Highway, the Callaghan Valley trail system and a specially designed off-road course.

E-bike Tours  Electric pedal-assist mountain bikes ensure your journey up is just as effortless and enjoyable as the cruise back down. The bikes feature three levels of electrical assistance to support a variety of fitness levels, ensuring every adventurer can indulge in an equally epic mountain biking experience.

Salmon Bake  This iconic dining experience begins with you motoring your ATV 1,828 metres (6,000 feet) up Blackcomb Mountain to Whistler’s best patio.
