Kerrisdale

Kerrisdale’s main shopping area is known to many as the "village." It's only 20 minutes from Vancouver's downtown and offers more than 200 diverse shops and services along quiet tree-lined streets. The business district is concentrated on West 41st Avenue between Maple and Larch Streets, stretching in a north-south direction along West and East Boulevards. Surrounding this area are older, gracious homes, newer additions to the neighbourhood, and both high and low-rise apartment buildings. Architecturally, the neighbourhood boasts many styles and structures listed in the Vancouver Heritage inventory.

University of British Columbia

Located on the far west side of the City of Vancouver, just beyond Point Grey, is the University of British Columbia. This leafy campus, about 25-minutes from downtown, is surrounded by Pacific Spirit Regional Park on three sides, and the Pacific Ocean on the fourth, making this a beautiful area for visitors to explore. Nature enthusiasts won’t want to miss the serene Nitobe Memorial Garden, UBC Botanical Garden and Greenheart TreeWalk, or the Beaty Biodiversity Museum – part of the university’s science faculty. The stunning Chan Centre for the Performing Arts is one of the city’s top performance spaces, but probably the most acclaimed cultural institution on campus is the Museum of Anthropology at UBC, with its impressive collection of Northwest Coast First Nations arts. Note that the Museum of Anthropology will be closed for most of 2023 for renovations.

Steveston

Like so many of Metro Vancouver's best neighbourhoods, the theme of transformation is a big part of this former fishing village's bold history. Once one of the largest fishing ports in the world, the canneries and shipyards in this neighbourhood in the south of Richmond have become museums and historic sites where visitors can explore the depth of fishing's influence on the area. Even with all this change, visitors will still find fishing boats in the Fraser River marinas, fresh fish and chips on the boardwalk, and adorable local stores to browse.
