Celebrate Japanese Canadian culture at the 49th Annual Powell Street Festival, Vancouver’s largest Japanese Canadian summer festival. Held over the BC Day long weekend, this vibrant event features a diverse lineup of performances, cultural activities, and culinary delights.

Highlights Include:

  • Performances: Experience traditional and contemporary music, dance, and theatre across multiple stages.
  • Cultural Demonstrations: Witness martial arts displays, participate in tea ceremonies, and explore ikebana (flower arranging) exhibits.
  • Sumo Exhibition: Don't miss the amateur sumo tournament hosted by Sumo Sundays on Sunday, August 3.

The festival takes place on the traditional, unceded territories of the Skwxwú7mesh (Squamish), Səl̓ílwətaʔ/Selilwitulh (Tsleil-Waututh), and xʷməθkwəy̓əm (Musqueam) Nations.
