Brighten BC & Unite for Light

Overview
This Hanukkah, the Jewish Federation is launching Brighten BC, a province-wide celebration designed to share the light and joy of Hanukkah. With menorah lightings and community celebrations taking place across British Columbia, Brighten BC aims to foster connection, inclusivity, and cultural appreciation among residents, families, and community allies throughout the province during the Festival of Lights.
The signature event, Unite for Light, presented by Chabad Lubavitch BC in partnership with Jewish Federation, features the lighting of the iconic Silber Agam Menorah on Sunday, December 14th at 3:30 at the Vancouver Art Gallery. This stunning menorah, a symbol of unity and resilience, will be lit every night throughout Hanukkah from December 14 to December 21 and will illuminate downtown Vancouver. Media and the public are invited to attend this inspiring event.
"Hanukkah is about bringing light into the world, and this year we want that light to shine farther and brighter than ever before. Brighten BC is more than a celebration—it’s an opportunity to connect communities across the province,” said Ezra S. Shanken, CEO of Jewish Federation.
Brighten BC reflects our commitment to building a province where diverse cultures are celebrated, and where traditions—like the lights of Hanukkah—can be shared widely across BC. We’re asking everyone to invite a friend, colleague, or neighbour to join the festivities and help us Brighten BC. Help us shine the light of Hanukkah even brighter and share its message of hope and togetherness. Take a picture with a menorah or at a Hanukkah event and tag #BrightenBC on social media.
Join us as we celebrate Hanukkah, share our culture, and Brighten BC together. Let’s fill our feeds with light and joy this holiday season!
