2026 Discovery Day

Curious about the world beneath you? Bring the whole family to Discovery Day, hosted by the Association for Mineral Exploration (AME), on Sunday, January 25, 2026 from 10 AM – 2 PM at the Vancouver Convention Centre East.

Explore BC’s fascinating world of minerals and mining with interactive, hands-on exhibits for all ages.

• Explore a remote mineral exploration camp with Equity Exploration.
• VR mine modeling showcasing cutting-edge technology in mineral exploration with VRIFY.
• Interactive activities featuring electric currents and magnetic fields.
• Pan for gold with Yukon Dan, a world champion gold panner.
• Explore ancient fossils, touch billion-year-old rocks, and see tech-driven innovations in action!

Explore exhibits from leading organizations like Below BC, Britannia Mine Museum, Science World, SFU Earth Sciences Lab, UBC Geering Up, BCIT Mineral Exploration and Mining Program and Women in Mining BC.

Free family fun for everyone, including:

• Face painting, balloon twisting, stickers, and colouring sheets.
• Enjoy complimentary coffee and tea with tasty treats like popcorn and cotton candy.
• Meet mascots Buddy and Betty the Miners and Spike from Vancouver Whitecaps FC! .

Recommended for ages 4–12, but fun for all! Event registration is not required.
