About
It is a memorial to commemorate the airmen who gave their lives in the Second World War. The Air Force Garden of Remembrance, also known as the Air Force Grove, was established by the Women’s Auxiliary to Air Services in 1948 to commemorate the airmen who gave their lives in the Second World War. It is a shade garden, contributing to the contemplative tone of the memorial. It is also a rock garden, and features the planting of various species of flowers and shrubs around a small stream and pond, set off by flagstone steps and path. The garden is a living memorial, symbolic of the sacrifice of the armed forces. There are a variety of plaques placed throughout the garden.
