New Cult Ramen Arrives in Vancouver
Vancouver has no shortage of new restaurant openings this spring and with cool weather still in the forecast, the search for a great bowl of ramen continues.
Renowned Japanese restauranteur and chef, Yukihiko Sakamoto is offering his cult ramens with the recent, much-anticipated opening of his first North American shop on Vancouver’s Robson Street. Menya Itto is known as The King of Tsukemen, the “dipping” style of ramen where your cold noodles made in house from seven varieties of flour, arrive separately from the broth. Menya Itto’s signature broths are slowly simmered for 12 hours to create a rich and balanced flavour. In Japan, Menya Itto has won the coveted Tabelog Awards for best ramen for nearly 10 consecutive years, and we’re excited to be able to experience his award-winning ramen here in Vancouver now.
In Vancouver’s historic Chinatown neighbourhood, Harvest Community Foods’ noodle soup café has a flavourful menu offering rice, ramen and udon noodles in broth or sauce. With a focus on locally sourced, wholesome goods, it is the perfect spot to try a hot bowl of noodle soup options on a rainy spring day. Harvest Community Foods is a community supported grocery store, too, owned and operated by two local chefs, making its roots ‘firmly planted in community’.
