On behalf of the many members and partners organizations who worked so hard to support our hosting proposal, we are understandably disappointed that Vancouver was not chosen as a hub city for the National Hockey League playoffs this summer. Tourism Vancouver recognizes the significant economic opportunity that a hub city designation would have meant for businesses across the city, as well as acting as a welcome step along the path to our sector’s recovery.
While it’s not the outcome we hoped for, Tourism Vancouver extends our sincere thanks to Premier Horgan for his steadfast collaboration in our bid for the opportunity to host NHL teams. We are equally grateful to Dr. Bonnie Henry for continuing to protect the health and safety of residents across our province. Regardless of which city or cities are chosen to host NHL games later this summer, we look forward to throwing full support behind our Vancouver Canucks when they return to the ice.
