And while there are many chefs one might not recognize by name; this diverse group of female professionals represent a range of cuisines and daily create unforgettable culinary experiences. Destination Vancouver proudly supports WORTH Association’s event, Yes Shef – Elevating Women in Food & Beverage, that celebrates the remarkable women in British Columbia’s hospitality community. Proceeds of ticket sales go directly towards scholarships.

Jessica Kwon, Head Chef at Cactus Club Café’s Bentall location in downtown Vancouver is not only a passionate chef but also an enthusiastic supporter of mentorship to her team members. She was instrumental in launching the Junior Sous Chef program at Cactus and participates in Women in Leadership programming, too.

Riley’s Fish & Steak Chef Ying Ying Gao spearheaded the opening of Glowbal Restaurant Group’s newest culinary venture in 2022. With unwavering dedication and immense talent, Chef Gao’s contribution to the opening of Riley’s Fish & Steak led to the restaurant being named a Michelin-recommended establishment in its opening year, a remarkable achievement!

Kate Siegel, the current Executive Pastry Chef at the Fairmont Pacific Rim, followed her dreams and joined the hospitality industry working at various hotels and restaurants in Toronto, Whistler and more recently, in Vancouver. Siegel credits the generosity of the culinary professionals she has worked with, who shared their vast knowledge with her, for where she is today.
