Of all the great plates you'll find at Bacchus Restaurant & Lounge in the Wedgewood Hotel, the one on the wall tells the story best.
It's the plate inscribed with the Four Diamond Award from the CAA/AAA. It is a perfect companion to the Wedgewood's own Four Diamond rating, an honour indicating that this rooms' service is second to none.
Walk through its Hornby Street entrance, and Bacchus' attention to detail is immediately apparent. You are instantly surrounded by luxury, with richly upholstered furniture, warm, dark wood, and light fixtures personally imported from Venice by founder Eleni Skalbania. A large canvas depicting Bacchus himself, Greek god of wine and revelry, presides over the lounge, the site of Vancouver’s most popular cocktail hour. The talented executive Chef, Montgomery Lau, leads the kitchen team into creating a truly gourmet European experience for its guests.
With food like this, you would naturally expect an outstanding wine list, and Bacchus does not disappoint. From the West Coast to France, Italy, South Africa and Australia, Bacchus takes xenophiles on a tour of the world's finest vineyards. One recent visitor wrote a thank you note, referring to the servers as "mind readers - astounding!". Actually, it is just par for the course at Bacchus, a diamond in the heart of Vancouver's Wedgewood Hotel.
