It was the seventh and final match hosted at BC Place during the tournament, marking the end of Vancouver’s involvement before the tournament moves on to the quarterfinals.

Switzerland - One Last Hurrah in Vancouver
Since defeating Canada in group stage play, Switzerland have set up camp at BC Place, dispatching Algeria in the Round of 32, before facing South American opposition in the Round of 16. The Swiss defended expertly throughout, limiting Colombia to several half chances. Ultimately, Switzerland progressed on penalties following a tight and cagey affair that was high on tension and low on exciting attacking moments.
Missed Opportunity for Colombia
Led by Bayern Munich superstar Luis Diaz, Colombia made the trip to Canada in confident mood. Unfortunately, they couldn’t break down their well organized, resolute opponents. Crystal Palace fullback Daniel Munoz showed several flashes of his quality, but Switzerland held firm. Despite enjoying the backing of the majority of the crowd, Colombia came away from BC Place rueing a missed opportunity to face their old rivals Argentina in the quarter finals.
Vancouver as a Host City
After 25 magical days, the end of Switzerland vs Colombia brought the curtain down on Vancouver’s time as a World Cup city. In that time, more than a quarter of a million fans attended games at BC Place, while countless more attended watch parties across the region.
From the incredible vibe of the Granville Street Pedestrian Zone, to the Supernatural Watch Party atop Grouse Mountain, Vancouver came alive, living up to its billing as the best FIFA World Cup 2026 Host City.
