There’s a lot going on this week, with four productions calling it a wrap—and one big one just getting started.

It’s yo, Joe, time, as the latest G.I. Joe action flick gets underway.

Two suspenseful homescreen movies are finishing up, one about a serial killer stalking a high-school grad class and another about a suburban town shaken up the murder of a young girl.

For a more positive spin on youth, a TV series about female friends who create a babysitting business gets an updated reboot.

And a UFO investigation TV series goes deep into Area 51.

Here’s a roundup of what’s happening in Vancouver’s screen scene this week.

Henry Golding will star in Snake Eyes.

So to get going, let’s get straight to the action, shall we?

The blockbuster Snake Eyes, directed by Robert Schwentke (Allegiant), starts shooting today (October 15) and will continue until December 6.

Henry Golding (Crazy Rich Asians) will play the lead role as Snake Eyes joins a ninja clan on a mission to avenge his father’s death.

As the mysterious and mute G.I. Joe commando covers his face at all times and wears all black, Golding’s suave visage may not be gracing the big screen much—if at all.

Which makes it all the more important to catch sight of him while he’s in Vancouver, right?

Australian actress Samara Weaving (Ready or Not) has been cast as the crossbow-carrying Scarlett, who develops a special connection with Snake Eyes.

In other main roles, Andrew Koji will star as Snake Eyes’ blood brother and nemesis Storm Shadow, Iko Uwais as Snake Eye’s sword master Hard Master, and Úrsula Corberó as Cobra agent The Baroness.

Directed by Rebecca Thomas (Limetown), the crime drama (divided into eight- to ten-minute chapters and tailored for mobile viewing) follows what happens after a young girl and a teacher from a suburban town are murdered.

Elsewhere in the city, two TV series from very different genres also finish up this week.

Project Blue Bookwill complete shooting 10 episodes for Season 2, which started back on July 15, on Thursday (October 17).

This historical sci-fi drama series is based upon real U.S. Air Force investigations into purported UFO encounters and unexplained phenomenon.
